Funeral services for Beatrice Marburger Abney, will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the St Joseph’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Jordan to officiate. Burial will be at the Southland Cemetery following services. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00p.m. Monday evening at Homestead Funeral Home in Grand Prairie. Memorial contributions are suggested to St Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Grand Prairie. Beatrice was known to most as Betty, was nicknamed Tritsal - "precious one" - by her grandfather. Sunrise: 10/4/25 Sunset: 2/14/08 Her life was spent in Texas having graduated from Tech High School in Dallas in 1943, and from Dallas Baptist University with a BCA in 1984. When meeting Betty, no one questioned her purposes in life. Obedient daughter, faithful sibling to two sisters and one brother, devoted wife, loving mother, adoring granny, and an unwavering believer of her Awesome God. She spent hours in prayer and Bible Study daily. Betty truly believed she was commissioned to help others, and always expressed her sincere appreciation for the opportunity to serve where needed. She was a Lady - ALWAYS! Genteel in manner. Soft spoken. Compassionate to all of God's creatures. Plagued with shyness, Betty developed the "gift-of-gab" and entertained her friends endlessly with stories of her youth. She was fun - all the time! Betty loved her children - unconditionally! David of Fort Worth, Richard Carl and Sherley of Terrell survive her. Just one week ago, the last day she could speak, she expressed the pride and joy of being Granny to Sasha Charmaigne and Xavier of Terrell. There was always an instant recall of the overwhelming love for the first time she held new-born Sasha! Betty was highly intelligent. She worked the daily cross-word puzzles in ink! Her vocabulary was astonishing. Her career ended where she was Secretary at Christ Episcopal Church, having worked for more than twenty-five years for The Reverend A. Harrison Lee. As a parishioner of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in Grand Prairie she could not speak highly enough of her minister, Father Jordan. She was committed in her daily prayers for him both as a spiritual leader and a friend. When Betty attended DeColores she came home with a most contagious love for God. and faithfully spent hours praying for and selecting appropriate mementoes for other attendees. She was an active member of The Daughters of the King. Through this group she exhibited its purpose - love, concern and service to others. In addition to her immediate family, Betty is survived by sister- and brother-in-law Clereta and LeRoy Toler, brother-in-law Conley Shertliff, many nieces and nephews of the Allen, Shertliff, Toler, Medford, Lee, Cooksey, and Etheredge families. Additionally, Betty was blessed to be loved by and accepted as a part of entire Turner family. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her friends who kept a vigil over Betty during her final days: Father Jordan, Micaela, Jim, Paul, Evelyn, Cindi, Arlene, Tommie, and a host of others too great to mention.
